Common Questions
Find answers to common questions about TalkDoc’s features and functionality.
Offline Capability
Can I use TalkDoc offline?
TalkDoc has limited offline capability:
- Voice recording: You can record voice notes offline without an internet connection
- Document generation: Requires an active internet connection, as your voice is sent to AI services for processing
- Editing: You can edit documents offline after they’ve been generated
- Sharing and export: Requires an internet connection
If you record while offline, connect to the internet to generate your structured document.
Data Storage
Where is my data stored?
All documents and voice recordings are stored locally on your device. TalkDoc does not store your data on remote servers. This means:
- Your documents are private to your device
- Your data is not backed up to cloud services by TalkDoc
- Uninstalling the app will delete your local documents
How do I back up my documents?
To preserve your documents, regularly export them as PDFs and store them in cloud storage (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.). See Sharing and Exporting PDF for instructions.
Will my documents sync across devices?
No. Documents are stored locally on each device and do not sync. If you want the same documents on multiple devices, export as PDF and import them manually to each device.
AI and Technology
What AI model does TalkDoc use?
TalkDoc uses Claude, Anthropic’s large language model, to generate structured documents from your voice recordings. Claude processes your voice transcription and creates organized, professional documents based on your notes.
Is my data used to train the AI?
No. Your voice recordings and documents are used only to generate your documents and are not used to train or improve Claude or any other models.
Document Types and Editing
Can I edit documents after they’re generated?
Yes. You can edit any field in your documents after generation. See Editing Fields for instructions on editing document content, changing status, and managing array fields.
How many document types are available?
TalkDoc includes five document types, each with predefined fields tailored for specific use cases. The available types vary by use case and industry. Review your document library to see which types are available for your needs.
Can I create custom document types?
Currently, document types are predefined. However, you can edit any generated document’s fields to match your specific needs.
