Voice Recording Tips

To get the most accurate and useful transcriptions from TalkDoc, follow these best practices when recording your voice notes.

Speak at a Natural Pace

Record your voice as you would normally speak. Avoid speaking too quickly or too slowly, as this can affect the accuracy of the transcription.

**Tip:** Find a comfortable rhythm that matches your natural speech patterns. This helps the AI better understand context and nuance in your words.

State Key Information Clearly

When recording important details, enunciate clearly:

  • Names: Spell out or pronounce names distinctly
  • Dates: Say dates in full (e.g., “April ninth, twenty twenty-six” instead of “4/9/26”)
  • Numbers: Speak numbers clearly, especially sequences like phone numbers or account IDs
  • Technical terms: Speak any specialized vocabulary slowly and clearly

Minimize Background Noise

Find a quiet environment when possible. Background noise can interfere with speech recognition accuracy.

Common sources to avoid:

  • Loud machinery or equipment
  • Traffic or wind noise
  • Conversations nearby
  • Fans or HVAC systems
**Tip:** When recording in the field, move away from the source of noise if you can, or speak a bit closer to your device's microphone.

Use the Guided Prompts

TalkDoc provides guided prompts when you start recording. These prompts are tailored to the document type you’re creating. Follow the structure suggested by the app to ensure you capture all necessary information.

Watch the Listening Indicator

When you’re recording, you’ll see a pulsing “Listening…” indicator on your screen. This shows that TalkDoc is actively recording your audio. Keep talking until you’ve finished your note, then tap the stop button.

The pulsing indicator helps you confirm that the app is ready and actively capturing your voice.
